Case Study:

But some times memory gets shacked and all things become mingle, she can not differentiate those words separately. Because “the life has become old, the eye sight is almost gone. What is left with me?” Both of the eyes are blind.

Lal Banu Stays with her 4th daughter, her maternal grand son’s wife, and their children helps her to take food, going out side. Her husband died at the age of 90 years old.  He was a framer, having 8 children (5 boys, 3 girls). Among them two boys are died due to age related diseases.

In such a condition her 6th daughter’s son around 35 years old, brought his maternal grand Ma (Lal Banu) to Kishoreganj Eye Hospital if any thing could be done!

After the clinical investigations the diagnosis’s are Right Eye (RE), Mature Cataract, only she can recognize the light presence nothing more than that. Left Eye (LE): Dense corneal opacity with visualization. Can not see anything, what is a clinically blind eye and left with no better prognosis. Before 20 years back she got corneal infection and they did not do any treatment. So no treatment can be done now.

After the clinical investigations the counselor counseled her grand son that Lal Banu RE- cataract extraction is highly recommended. And left one would be left with the same. So he agreed to go for cataract extraction.

So Lal Banu got admission and operated on 3rd March 2008 at Kihoreganj Eye Hospital. On the next day on discharge date she was so happy to recognize her grand son’s face. “Jauk jathau din baicha achi tatha din ethu tuku  alo dektam parlaye oailo” it means, Oh! if at last this much eye sight is left with me for rest of my life it will be enough for me. Now Lal Banu can see, she is telling now she would be able to manage her own day to day activities, to take food, go out side. “Now if my health permits with the help of my eye sight I can go home on my own, Village: Jangalia, Thana: Pakundia, District: Kishoreganj. Because now I can see, now I can take care of my grand son’s kids, before it was a fog, sight through a dense fog”. White but without sharpness.

Life leads forward with the experience and age, but it also need the light. Not only the light of a candle or sun but also the eye sight. God gifted eye sight of Lal Banu was restored by Dr. B.K Roy with the team help of Sabina, Kulsum, Khairul. Wish to God that this much light would be with her for the coming days!!
